It began with a need for cribs…

Karen Dunigan's impactful idea was sparked during a 2006 lunch in Jackson, Michigan, where the CEO of the Center for Family Health mentioned the dire need for portable cribs. Shocked by the reality that some new mothers couldn't afford proper cribs, Karen swiftly mobilized her community. With just a few phone calls, she raised $12,800 in one hour, exceeding the $10,000 target. Recognizing the potential of her approach, Karen founded the first 100+ Women Who Care group, which holds quarterly meetings to address immediate local needs. The rules were simple, any member could present a need in the community, the need had to be immediate and the money had to remain local.  Today, her legacy thrives with over 900 chapters worldwide, uniting people of all ages and genders to make a powerful impact on their communities.
